The Disappearance of Manouchehr “Mike” Nafar

By Naptime Nancy

Twenty five year old Manouchehr Nafar, who went by Mike, had overslept and missed his Thursday morning classes at Wichita State University on February 24th, 1983. Mike had spent the night at his girlfriend’s house, so he headed back to his SE Wichita home to change before spending the time from his missed classes to search for a job. He has never been heard from again. That evening, just after midnight of February 25th, Mike Nafar’s 1974 yellow Chevy van was found engulfed in flames near a car wash in Augusta, Kansas. The license plate SG M 37993 was missing from the vehicle.

Manouchehr Nafar is 5’7” tall, 150 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes, mustache, and scars on chin, and both knees. He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and a blue jean jacket. There is so little information about this case. Nothing in the media that I’ve been able to find, aside from a couple missing persons sites. If you have any information regarding the disappearance, or, are related to Manouchehr “Mike” Nafar, please contact Augusta KS Department of Public Safety at (316)-775-4500 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigations at (785)-296-8200.
