A Life Stolen: Egypt Covington

By Naptime Nancy

Twenty seven year old Egypt Covington was an aspiring singer and local bartender living in Van Buren Township, which is located in between Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Egypt had made the decision to leave her boyfriend to work things out with an old flame. The new boyfriend and Egypt were living on the 45000 block of Hull Road, when her boyfriend came home around 7:15PM on June 23rd, 2017, and found Egypt dead. She had been bound with Christmas lights and shot in the head. Egypt’s boyfriend immediately ran out of their home and called for help.

Egypt Covington worked as a bartender at Fraser’s Pub in Ann Arbor, MI.

The crime scene lacked any signs of forced entry, so it is the jurisdiction’s belief that Egypt knew her killer. In March of 2018, Van Buren Township police named Egypt’s ex boyfriend as a person of interest, but I could not find any further information as to whether or not her ex has since been cleared. There were allegations spoken to True Crime Daily that the ex had been abusive toward Egypt. However, Egypt’s mother chooses not to believe these allegations and has even let the ex boyfriend dog sit for her.
