The Murder of Joshua Schulman

By Flavio Sette

In the early morning of August 21st, 2017, a home invasion in south Charlotte, North Carolina resulted in 25-year-old Joshua Schulman being killed and his70-year-old father Larry Schulman being seriously injured. The intruders entered the house where the two men lived around 3 a.m. Joshua and Larry were in their respective bedrooms when a group of men entered the home. The intruders appeared to be searching for something, and asked Larry several questions. The gunmen then shot Joshua in the head, and pistol-whipped and shot Larry in the armand chest.

Larry managed to contact Life Alert and tell the operator to call the police. The intruders left soon after, taking with them some of Larry’s belongings. Joshua and Larry were taken to a local hospital. While Larry survived, Joshua was declared dead that night.

No signs of forced entry were found. According to Larry, their doors were on occasion left unlocked, and that may have been how the intruders entered the home. Why Larry and Joshua were shot is something of a mystery, since it appeared that both men cooperated with the intruders. The authorities have so far not revealed exactly what the intruders asked Larry.

There is a $15,000 reward for information about the people responsible for Joshua’s murder. If you have any information about the attack, please call Crimestoppers at (704) 334-1600.
